1. DISCOVER CLIFFS AND MYTHS OF BULGARIAN NORTHERN BLACK SEA COAST

If your idea of a perfect vacation includes being exposed to other cultures and interacting with local people, then look no further than this exclusive tour. 

This 1 day tour offers a customer oriented experience and features main points of interest along its itinerary.

During this trip you are going to discover the rich history of Northern Black Sea coast, its myths and legends and admire gorgeous views.

ROAD PLAN

Pick up at your convenience from 8:30 till 09:30 am from your hotel in Varna or located nearby resort areas. We will head north to our first stop – Aladzha monastery - rocky monastery dated from XIII century A.D. Nowadays monastery is not active but it is only a museum sight. We will visit rocky dwellings of the monks and the museum where we can find additional info about the history of the christianity in Varna and a real model of the monastery. Time for walk 1h.

Continue to Balchik (more 30 min. drive). On our way to Balcik we will see most famous beach resorts in this area – Golden Sands and Albena Resort. We can stop over in Albena Resort to visit natural preserve area – Baltata, famous for being the most northern dense forest in Europe – “longoz”.

Balchik – “White town” - small coastal town with population of around 18 000 citizens named after the medieval ruler Balik and white limestone cliffs the town was built on. Visit of the town’s most popular attraction – Botanical garden and the Summer residence of Romanian Queen Maria and her beautifully arranged gardens. Walk and observance of the complex (for about 1.5h). We will be invited to taste local special wines in Queen's Winery.

Lunch in a traditional Bulgarian restaurant when travelers can taste local dishes and delicacies and fresh fish from the Black sea. As an option we can have lunch at famous mussel farm, where original dishes from mussels and fish  are served.

Next stop is Cape Kaliakra – Natural and architectural reserve with more than 60 meters high above the sea cliffs and ruins of an old medieval fortress from XIV century. You will get to know ancient story of this magnificent place. We will admire wonderful views from the edge of the cliffs and will watch (if lucky) the dolphins play.

Our journey will continue north to cape Shabla – the most eastern point of Bulgaria. 

 On our way to Shabla we will stop in small coastal village, called Tyulenovo (tyulen – seal in Bulgarian), called that way because there used to live a lot of monk seals. The Tyulenovo stone bridge is a fantastic decor for your pictures. 

 Cape Shabla is the most eastern point of Bulgaria. There you can see the oldest and highest working lighthouse on the Balkans . Of course you will learn the interesting story of the Lighthouse's long life. 

On the way back to Varna, we can stop and buy some farm grown bio fruits and vegetables from local people. 

Return to your place of accommodation.

2. OLD NESSEBAR - UNESCO'S WORLD HERITAGE TOWN OF 40 CHURCHES

Do you want to discover one of UNESCO world heritage sites and to see the town of 40 churches? Then you should not miss our trip and book with us!

ROAD PLAN

Pick up at your convenience from 8:30 till 09:30 am from your hotel in Varna or in nearby resort areas. We will start our journey with crossing one of Varna’s most spectacular landmarks - Asparuhovo bridge. We will head south and within 45 min drive will reach small coastal town Byala (Aspros). There we can stop at St. Atanas cape to visit the remains of an antique coastal fortress.  

Our trip will continue with another 45-min. driving through small mountain passage through Stara planina mountain. On the way to Nessebar we will pass near the biggest and the most famous and biggest seaside resort in Bulgaria – Sunny Beach.

Arrival in Nesebar. (Messembria). Old town of Nessebar is located on a small peninsula and it is a protected site by UNESCO since 1983.

A 1.5-2 hour walk in the streets of old town with a optional visit of the Archeological museum and the most famous churches. During summer period all available for visitations churches are open, and in the winter, only St. Stephen’s church and the archaeological museum.

Optional lunch in a traditional Bulgarian restaurant with local homemade meals and fresh fish from the Black sea!

Optional stop at local winery for wine tasting and possibility to buy wines and local spirits.

Return to Varna and to your place of accommodation.

3. THE ROOTS OF BULGARIA

One day trip to the dawn of the First Bulgarian state

     In this journey we will discover another UNESCO world heritage site in Bulgaria– Madara Horseman and will visit first capital of 1st Bulgarian Kingdom – Pliska – end of 7th – end of 9th century AD.

      Pick up at your convenience around 9:00 am from your hotel in Varna or from nearby resort areas in radius 35 km. We will head west and after 40 min drive will reach our first stop – Madara Rider. This monument was recognized by UNESCO as world historical heritage in 1976. This unique gravure carved directly in the cliffs on a height about 25-30 meters above the path. On the top of the cliffs, there are remains of medieval fortress. The path to the top is a real challenge and it takes about 30 min walk to reach the fortress. Of course the views are more than breathtaking. Total time of walk with visitation of the fortress is 2h.

Our next stop will be old town of Pliska, where we will visit the remains of the first capital of first Bulgarian State and the ruins Great Basilica of Pliska, built in 870 A.D. – one of the biggest Christian temples in Europe in that time. You will learn the history of the 1st Bulgarian State.

There is also a possibility to visit a private museum called Cyrillic letters Courtyard .There can be seen a collection of wax figures of ancient Bulgarian khans and tzars, their clothes and armory and of course you can get to know closer the Cyrillic letters.

Lunch in a traditional Bulgarian restaurant where you can try local homemade dishes.

Return to Varna and to your place of accommodation.

  4. VARNA BY BIKE

Bike tour of Varna with a local guide.

We invite you to an ease and undoubtedly pleasant ride on two wheels around Varna, in the company of a local tour guide.

During the 3-hour walk through the central parts of the city, you will learn many interesting things about the past eras and the modern history of Varna, as well as you will see many  beautiful and sometimes strange examples of architecture and the urban environment. And for sure you will  burn some calories as well.

Route:

The tour starts from 8th Primorski Polk Blvd. 135 A, on the bicycle lane next to the Citymarket grocery store.

The route is designed in such a way that it allows you to see the main sights of the city - slowly and enjoying the views and cycling.

Departure from Black Sea Stadium to the center. Stop at the monument dedicated to the 8th Primorski polk military unit.

The Red Square 

Varna Municipality building and at the monument to those who died in the First World War and at the Archaeological Museum. 

The tour continues around the building of the Archaeological Museum to the Cathedral.

    During our trip, you will see a real stone forest created by the nature.

   You are going to feel the freshness and calmness of the natural water springs. You will learn why in the ancient times, the salt used to be more expensive than the gold. 

Road plan

      Pick up at your convenience at around 09:00 am from your hotel in Varna or in nearby within 30 m radius resort areas.

      Our first stop is the natural phenomenon Stone Forest located just 15 km west of Varna. This place is mysthical and yet surrounded with good energy. We will go back as far as 50 million years ago. Time for walk, about 30-40 minutes.

      The journey will continue for another 15 km further west, where in a small town Devnya we shall visit the so-called "Magic Source" - a natural karst source, one of thirty karst springs united in seven large groups, located in beautiful forest area. Possible coffee break. The approximate time for a walk 30-40 minutes.

      Next stop is town Provadia. This is a small town of about 20,000 inhabitants, located in a very picturesque area. There we can visit the Historical museum and the remains of the fortress "Ovech," a support point built in the 3rd century A.D. The fortress is located on a rocky plateau at an altitude of 180 meters above sea level. Walk time is 1.5 hour. In the period May-September during the archeological season we can also visit Solnitsata - actual archeological site of an ancient salt producing center and the remains of the oldest gated settlements in Europe. 

      Time for delicious lunch in a local restaurant with traditional dishes.

      Back to Varna or to you place of accommodation.
